IPL/BBL Photorejuvenation – What to Expect
IPL treatments are most commonly used on the face and neck but are equally effective on the chest and hands. The beauty of this treatment is that the skin is not being removed or penetrated; therefore, no downtime is involved. Patients of all ages and most skin types are eligible. Patients who are tan are asked to delay treatment for four to six weeks. Patients with very dark skin pigmentation are not good candidates for this particular treatment.
Each treatment takes approximately thirty minutes. After the treatment is completed, one may experience mild redness, temporary darkening of brown spots, or a bluish darkening of broken capillaries- all of which resolve in five to ten days and may be covered up with your regular makeup.
There is no downtime and one may immediately resume normal activities. Optimal results are seen after four to six treatments, which are scheduled about three to four weeks apart until the desired result is achieved.
Maintenance treatments are also recommended one to two times a year for longer-lasting results. More frequent maintenance treatments are preferred by some patients and can be safely performed whenever a touch-up is desired. At the end, nearly flawless, radiant skin can be achieved in a safe and gentle manner.
