Where Do You Use Belotero?
What Is Belotero?
Belotero is a dermal, soft tissue filler that is injected into the facial skin as a treatment for wrinkles and small creases that have become deeply carved into the skin. It is the type of injectable that uses hyaluronic acid to fill in areas that have become loose or have deteriorated due to aging. Patients love it because it gives them a youthful appearance and smooth, plump skin.
This treatment is rapidly gaining popularity with patients because it is a convenient, inexpensive, and versatile option. It is also a highly effective way to deal with the signs of aging without surgery or other treatments that are time-consuming and difficult. It’s the perfect choice for many women and men, and it could be the right option for you as well.
What Is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid is a natural ingredient found that exists organically in your skin, eyes, and connective tissues of your body. It is clear and thick in appearance, and its job is to lubricate tissues in the body and keep them from drying out. It has powerful qualities that attract moisture, which is why it keeps your skin hydrated and voluminous.
Unfortunately, as people age, the natural production of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases significantly. The lower levels of hyaluronic acid also mean a breakdown of collagen, a substance that keeps the skin supple and full. The older you get, the more quickly your hyaluronic acid levels plummet.
History
Cosmetic facial fillers have been popular since the early 1980s when bovine collagen was used to fill in areas where the skin was wrinkled. Today’s injectables are much more effective and are engineered to treat specific causes of facial discoloration, sunken areas, and creases in the skin. Cosmetic injectables just get
Belotero was approved in 2011 by the FDA as a treatment for deeply etched fine lines and wrinkles that are hard to address with other types of injectables. Since then, its excellent results have made it a very popular choice in cosmetic fillers and injectable facial treatments. There are also different formulations of Belotero with various consistencies. This makes them more effective in a variety of areas.
Consultation
The first step in determining if this is the right treatment for you is to come in for a consultation. We will schedule a time for you to come into our office, so we can talk about your skin challenges related to the aging process. At the meeting, we will ask you about any medications you are currently taking. We will also ask lifestyle questions like whether or not you smoke.
We will also need to know if you’ve tried any cosmetic treatments previously, what they were, and how you felt about the results. We will look at your areas of concern and together we will determine the appropriate approach to give you the results you want to see. There are various formulas of the filler, some with larger hyaluronic acid molecules than others. We can discuss which is right for you.
Process
The process is quick and simple. When you come into our office on the day of your scheduled appointment, we will clean the areas of your face that will be treated. We may mark the areas to show exactly where you want the injection. We may also give you a topical anesthetic to make sure you are completely comfortable throughout the process.
The filler is then injected into the soft tissue of the face. It does not have to go deep into the skin, and the injection is not made into muscles or nerves. A quick massage of the area allows the filler to disperse. You may require one or more injections based on the areas of treatment and the extent of the results you want. The process takes between 15 minutes and an hour depending on how much treatment is needed.
Areas And Types of Treatment
Cheek Augmentation
Sunken cheeks are one indication of age-related skin deterioration. This is caused by a weakness in the facial muscles and a loss of elasticity in the skin. Injectable fillers can add volume and lift to this area. The skin in the cheeks will become fuller and plumper, creating a more youthful appearance.
Nose Restructuring
Sometimes called a liquid nose job, adding volume to your nose can significantly change its shape and appearance. This is sometimes done by using filler to round and extend the tip of the nose or to fill in a dent at the point where the nose meets the forehead.
Nasolabial Folds
Also called laugh lines, nasolabial folds are creased areas of skin between the nose and the mouth. An injectable filler can volumize this area and decrease the intensity of the folds.
Lip Augmentation
The skin in and around the lips loses a lot of moisture over time. This leads to drying that can cause wrinkles and creases. It can also cause the lips to become thin, creating the appearance of significant aging. Fuller, plumper lips look younger, and many people consider a fuller lip to be attractive.
Injectable fillers bring water back into the lips, amplifying the skin and making the lips bigger and bolder.
Marionette Lines
These are lines that are formed vertically on the sides of the lips and extend down toward the chin. These lines are created through repeated use of the muscles in laughing and talking. The injectable filler helps to diminish these lines.
Chin Wrinkles
The chin is an area where muscle movement creates small, fine wrinkles. These have a tendency to become deep and stubborn, and sometimes they can be hard to treat. Belotero is particularly effective in erasing these deeply etched lines and wrinkles.
Double Chin
The appearance of a double chin occurs when the skin around the jawline becomes loose. This allows fatty lumps to be deposited into the pockets of the skin. An injectable filler can break up the fatty deposits and tighten the skin, drawing back the double chin and allowing the jawline to remold itself around the jawbone.
Neck Folds
When the skin around the neck becomes loose, the result is folds and creases that can hang down. An injectable filler with hyaluronic acid can tighten up your neck skin and fill in any sunken areas. The skin will then fit back around the neck like it once did.
Lines Around Eyes
The skin around the eyes is highly sensitive and easily irritated. Tiny wrinkles around the eyes are common and come from changing facial expressions and muscles near the ocular bone. Soft tissue filler gently brings moisture into this area to remove these fine lines.
Undereye Bags
Bags under the eyes can be caused by loose, dehydrated skin and is made worse by stress and lack of sleep. Filler helps to revitalize the skin underneath the eye, firming the area. As the skin becomes tighter and more elastic, the bags fade.
Forehead Wrinkles
Wrinkles in the forehead can be one of the face’s earliest changes when it comes to aging, and the wrinkles can become deep over the years. Forehead wrinkles can be decreased naturally with a filler that adds hyaluronic acid to bring more moisture to the area. The result is smoother and more elastic skin.
Facial Contouring
This treatment can easily add volume in areas of the face that are sunken or misshapen. This makes it a good choice for shaping and contouring the face without surgery.
What Are the Advantages?
Immediate Results
You will see the filler working immediately after it is injected under the skin. This is a big advantage over some other fillers because you can actually ask for more in the office during your appointment if you are not seeing a change that is as dramatic as you wanted. This allows you to contour the area exactly as you want it to be and to watch it happen before your eyes.
Soft Consistency
Unlike some other fillers, Beloterol has a consistency like a soft gel. Because of that, the look it creates on the skin is supple, soft, and natural. It goes in smoothly under the surface of the skin and settles into the areas that need it. It is clear and elastic, so it will naturally disperse throughout the treatment areas without clumping in one spot.
Normal Movement
Beloterol does not deaden the nerves or interfere with muscle functions, so you will not show signs of being unable to make facial expressions. Your face will move as naturally as it did before treatment, and it will not be obvious to other people that you have had treatment in your face.
Skin Feels Natural
Your skin will not feel like plastic or like something synthetic has been added. You and others will be able to touch your skin, and it will feel the same as it always has.
No Allergy Testing
Sometimes facial products use chemicals or other ingredients that can cause an allergic reaction, so testing is needed before treatment can begin. This is not the case here. No testing is required before your treatment.
No Recovery Time
You can walk out of our office after treatment and get on with your day. There is no time needed for recovery or recuperation. After treatment, you will care for your skin as you normally would, avoiding harsh sunlight and using sunscreen to avoid damage caused by UV rays.
How Long Does It Last?
This soft tissue injectable filler can last anywhere from about 6 months to 18 months. Factors that contribute to that time table include the area of the face that is being treated, how much muscle movement regularly occurs in that space, and how fast your metabolic system works.
Some patients may come back in for a touch-up after the initial treatment if there are still areas of concern. This is not a problem, and touchups can be done very effectively and easily. The process can be repeated until we have achieved the results you desire.
