Co2 Laser for Eyelid Surgery in Annapolis

Mature woman with short blonde hair smiling

If you suspect or have been told that you could benefit from eyelid surgery and live in the Annapolis area, you might want to consider Co2 laser surgery as opposed to the traditional method. You will likely enjoy a quicker recovery time with fewer side effects. Our surgeon can explain the potential advantages to you in more detail after performing your evaluation. You may even decide to go ahead with the procedure that you have been postponing because you have been nervous about it.

Co2 laser eyelid surgery can reverse some of the signs of aging that come about from drooping eyelids. Loose skin can cause a person’s skin to sag and develop wrinkles. This happens because of a reduction in the amount of collagen that is produced in the skin as an individual ages. A lack of adequate amounts of the substance will, in turn, cause the skin to lose fullness and tightness. Lines, wrinkles and sagging develop as a result. While this is the major contributor to wrinkles along the forehead, crow’s feet next to the eyes and wrinkles around the mouth, it is not the only reason the eyelids begin to droop.

There is a membrane that holds a layer of fatty tissue in place that is there to serve as a pad between the eyeball and the skull. When this membrane deteriorates over time, the fatty layer can move forward. Consequently, portions of it will end up in the eyelids. The lids can also droop because the muscles that work them can begin to weaken. These are naturally-occurring effects that lead to the appearance of aging.

Eyelid surgery is primarily done in Annapolis to remove the excess skin that is allowing the eyelids to droop. As a result of using Co2 laser technology, the risk of complications is minimized. A faster recovery time can also be expected.

This procedure can be done for the lower eyelids, as well as the upper ones. Surgery on the upper eyelids is usually done to keep them from covering the eyeballs. In those situations where the drooping can impact the vision, the procedure may be considered medically necessary.

If you think you could benefit from eyelid surgery in the Annapolis, Columbia, or Severna Park area, feel free to ask our doctor at Adoro Medical Spa about the Co2 laser option. Contact us today to schedule a consultation at our office in Severna Park.
