Botulinum (Botox and Dysport)

BOTOX® and Dysport® injections are used to selectively weaken the muscles that cause unwanted facial lines and wrinkles.  Specialized knowledge of muscle function around the eyes and face allows Dr. Pacheco to customize each Botulinum treatment.  BOTOX® and Dysport® both contain purified derivatives of botulinum toxin, with a broad range of medical applications and cosmetic benefits.  Injected in very small amounts, they are able to weaken selected muscles for three to six months on average.  Although the muscles eventually regain normal function, they are trained to relax during the inactive time, ultimately making the lines less severe than they were prior to treatment.  Each session eliminates or reduces the treated lines and accomplishes a bit more permanent wrinkle reduction when the function returns.  Botulinum treatments should be performed frequently to maintain optimal control of unwanted lines.

What to Expect:
We strive to make patients feel comfortable and relaxed at all times.  You may choose to be numbed with an anesthetic cream that numbs the area, allowing for a much more comfortable experience during to your Botulinum treatment.

The effect of the treatment becomes noticeable over the next three to six days until the muscle(s) treated are maximallyrelaxed.  There is no numbness associated- just muscle relaxation.  More than one session may be required to obtain the desired results.

Side effects are rare and temporary at most, but may include bruising, pain beyond the time of injection, drooping of the upper eyelid and difficulty closing the eyes.  These risks are very infrequent with Dr. Pacheco’s expertise and over 15 years of experience.  For more complete product information, please visit www.botox.com or www.dysportusa.com.

Botulinum may be used in conjunction with a dermal filler, Thermage® and Laser treatments to obtain optimal smoothness.
